R>>>>Their primary probems are they require a good deal of water to prepair
(only a problem if a fresh water supply is a problem, filters and tablets
won't last forever though) and you need to cook them for a fair amount of
time.
What I do when I eat an MRE is take a canteen cup w/ water in in 3/4 full or
so heat it w/ fuel tabs / trioxine.....the MRE is in a heavy palstic - foil
type bag and in about 5 - qo min or so u hae a meal thats ready....the hot
water is sterile now and may be added to the MRE meal to moisten it out. The
dry items like the peaches are great dry by them selves no water added
"personal taste there" also in the new issue MRE's they have heaters in them
add about 2-3 oz. of water in a bag place main meal in to get a hot meal and
in about 5 min or so also no fire..and do in the privacy of your bolt hole
or v-150 or where ever

Meal Bars: Yucky taste, cannot be too satisfying, long term they
would
be an unhealthy diet. On the other hand you could fit a days worth of
nutrition in your pocket and eat them any time with no preperation. To
quote
one list subscriber "If you call that living."(sorry, can't remember who
said
 it)
R>>>> they are adding meal bars to MRES now
