RadiThermal Generator - it uses a core of radioactive material for heat and external fins for cooling. Since the core reaches temperatures of around 500 degree C it is usually much warmer than the ambient environment in Earth space. The thermal difference between the cool and hot side of a satellite isn't high enough for good thermocouple performance. RTGs have been used on several space missions and are this List Un-offical MP power source for bolt holes before fusion ;).
