Civility in Creativity

Open letter to all.

I have been a silent observer of the discussions of the M.P. for about a
month. Due to lack of time and a full course load and work I haven't
taken part in the discussion. Maybe later this summer.

Lately there has been some less than creative commentary of a personal
nature being thrown around. This is the very best way to destroy and
divert the direction from creative and constructive to DEAD! Without
differing opinions and ideas creativity is killed, paradigms remain in
place and everyone loses out.

To those of you who are including personal questions of character and/or
personal insults, knock it off. If you haven't built a repore with
someone to the extent that they know when you are joking, don't do it.
It's not worth the problem it creates. Just as in the case with
ElevenMike and the accusation against him, the party in question didn't
seem to know him from Adam. Therefore the only recourse you have is to
either apologize and get on with the conversation (and learn a lesson),
or eventually they will contact the one in charge of the mailing list
and have your address blocked altogether. On the other hand, several of
you came down on this guy like a hammer. You got sucked into the cycle
of "verbal" battle. Reserve the right not to get insulted. Don't get
diverted from the purpose of this forum of exchange of ideas. Don't
waste your time.

Some of you don't know how good you have it for this resource to be
available. I haven't gamed in years, but after what I have read here
with the exchange of ideas it's sparked my imagination again. Several of
you (Walter, ElevenMike, Gary, and others) obviously take this mailing
list seriously enough to share their ideas. Respect them for that.

BTW some of you should consider writing.

Be back later this summer.
