Tech support

Ok, I've been quiet for a while but while sitting here I rememberd the
discussion on power generators and all the complex answers that were to
be had. then, low and behold, I suggested the simple hand crank dynamo
and everyone flipped. Maybe this entire idea needs to be adressed in a
suppliment (If you need a some one to do it..hint ;) of low tech answers
to high tech questions. I think I have kind of a unique way of looking
at things due to my profession (blacksmith) but it is something I think
would be very important to people trying to help with the recovery. I
ran an entire game where the players did nothing but helped a small
hamlet set up a sanitation system. Nothing fancy, but it worked and
helped provide them with safe water and a renewable resource income
(Urea Nitrate for percussion caps). Everyone has to go some
time.Immagine a MARS team member trying to shoe his first horse or a
science team member trying to figure a simple way to irragate a field
without electric pumps. The ideas are endless as well as the questions.
As charicters they might know, but there is nothing wrong with giving
them basic information as a player to come up with a new idea.
I am sure each team will improvise what they have to, but shouldn't
there be a fall back somewhere in the system? If you can use simple tech
to get the same results as high tech with less equipment/cost, I think
this would be very attractive to the Project.
Ok, enough from me for now. (As he straps on his helmet) Ok..comments?
